These seals are primarily found in Lake Saimaa, the largest lake in Finland. They are small in size, with males typically growing to be around 130-150 cm in length and females slightly smaller. Saimaa Ringed Seals are known for their shy and elusive nature, making them difficult to spot in the wild. Conservation efforts are in place to protect these unique seals and their habitat.
