Religious Studies Islam
The study of Islam as a monotheistic religious faith based on the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad as revealed in the Quran, the holy book of Islam, and the Hadith, the traditions and practices of the Prophet. It encompasses the beliefs, practices, rituals, history, and interpretations of Islam, including the Five Pillars of Islam, the concept of Tawhid (oneness of God), the importance of prayer, fasting, charity, pilgrimage, and the role of the Islamic community (ummah). Scholars in this field examine various sects within Islam, such as Sunni, Shia, Sufism, and others, as well as the cultural, political, and social dimensions of Islam in different regions around the world.
