Islam is a monotheistic religion founded in the 7th century by the Prophet Muhammad, based on the teachings of the Quran. Adherents of Islam, known as Muslims, follow the Five Pillars of Islam, which include beliefs in the oneness of God and Muhammad as his prophet, prayer, fasting during Ramadan, almsgiving, and pilgrimage to Mecca. Islam emphasizes submission to the will of Allah and seeks to promote peace, justice, and compassion among its followers.
