This field of medicine deals with conditions such as hemorrhoids, anal fissures, rectal prolapse, inflammatory bowel disease, and colorectal cancer. Proctologists, also known as colorectal surgeons, are trained to perform procedures such as colonoscopies, sigmoidoscopies, and surgeries to address issues affecting the lower gastrointestinal tract.
