Pop Art Artists

Pop Art artists emerged in the mid-20th century, drawing inspiration from popular and commercial culture. These artists rejected the traditional themes of fine art, instead choosing to celebrate the mass-produced, everyday objects and images that surrounded them. Key figures in this movement include Andy Warhol, known for his screen prints of soup cans and celebrities, and Roy Lichtenstein, who created comic book-inspired paintings with his signature use of bold lines and Ben-Day dots. Other notable pop art artists include Richard Hamilton, James Rosenquist, and Edward Ruscha. This movement aimed to break down the barriers between "high" art and "low" culture, and its influence can still be seen in contemporary art today.
