Placozoan Reproduction
The process by which placozoans, a type of simple, marine invertebrate, reproduce. Placozoans reproduce asexually through a process called binary fission, in which the parent organism splits into two identical daughter organisms. This form of reproduction allows placozoans to rapidly increase their population size under favorable conditions. Additionally, placozoans can also reproduce sexually, with individuals releasing eggs and sperm into the surrounding water for fertilization to occur.
