Phthisis

Phthisis refers to a progressive wasting or atrophy of the body, especially as a result of a chronic illness or disease. It is characterized by a gradual decline in health, strength, and vitality, often leading to severe debilitation and ultimately death. Symptoms may include weight loss, weakness, fatigue, and respiratory problems. Historically, phthisis was commonly associated with tuberculosis, but it can also be caused by other chronic infections or conditions.
