Pharoses
Pharoses are ancient structures that were built in Egypt and other Mediterranean countries during the Hellenistic and Roman periods. They were tall towers or lighthouses used to guide ships at sea and warn them of dangerous coastlines. Pharoses were typically built near ports or on islands to help sailors navigate safely. These structures often had a fire or lantern at the top to provide light for ships at night. Some famous Pharoses include the Lighthouse of Alexandria and the Tower of Hercules.
