Patang

Patang refers to a traditional Indian kite that is typically made of paper or lightweight fabric and is flown during the kite-flying festival known as Makar Sankranti. Patangs are often brightly colored and decorated with intricate designs, and are flown competitively in events where participants attempt to cut the strings of their opponents' kites. Flying patangs is a popular pastime in India, especially during the winter months when the winds are strong and favorable for kite flying.
