Otoacoustic Emissions Testing
Otoacoustic emissions testing is a non-invasive procedure used to assess the function of the inner ear, specifically the cochlea. This test measures the sounds produced by the hair cells in the inner ear in response to sound stimulation. It is commonly used to screen for hearing loss in newborns, children, and adults, as well as to monitor the effects of ototoxic medications and noise exposure on hearing function.
