Onam Celebrations
Onam Celebrations refer to the traditional harvest festival celebrated in the state of Kerala, India. It is a ten-day festival that includes various rituals, cultural performances, floral decorations, feasting, and games. The highlight of the celebrations is the grand feast known as Onam Sadya, which consists of a variety of vegetarian dishes served on a banana leaf. The festival is marked by the elaborate Pookalam, or floral carpet, made with different colored flowers arranged in intricate patterns. Onam Celebrations also feature traditional dance forms like Kathakali and Thiruvathirakali, as well as boat races known as Vallam Kali. The festival is a time for families and communities to come together, exchange gifts, and pay homage to the legendary King Mahabali.
