Oceanic Trenches

Oceanic trenches are long, narrow, and deep depressions in the ocean floor, typically formed as a result of tectonic plate subduction. These trenches are some of the deepest parts of the Earth's oceans, with depths reaching several kilometers below sea level. Oceanic trenches are often associated with volcanic activity, earthquakes, and the formation of island arcs and mountain ranges. They are important features in the study of plate tectonics and the geology of the Earth's crust.
