National Hockey League
The National Hockey League (NHL) is a professional ice hockey league consisting of 32 member clubs, with 24 located in the United States and 7 in Canada. Founded in 1917, it is considered the premier professional ice hockey league in the world. The NHL organizes and oversees the top-level hockey competitions in North America, including the Stanley Cup playoffs, which culminate in the awarding of the iconic Stanley Cup trophy to the league champion.
