National Basketball Association
The National Basketball Association (NBA) is a professional basketball league in North America consisting of 30 teams, with 29 in the United States and 1 in Canada. It is widely considered the premier men's professional basketball league in the world. The NBA was founded in New York City on June 6, 1946, as the Basketball Association of America (BAA) before being renamed the NBA in 1949 after merging with the National Basketball League (NBL). The league is known for its high level of competition, top-tier athletes, and passionate fan base.
