Modern Pentathlon
Modern Pentathlon is a multi-discipline sport that consists of five events: fencing, swimming, equestrian show jumping, and a combined event of pistol shooting and cross country running. The sport was created by Pierre de Coubertin, the founder of the modern Olympic Games, with the intention of simulating the experience of a 19th-century cavalry soldier behind enemy lines. Competitors must possess a diverse skill set and adaptability to excel in each of the five disciplines, making Modern Pentathlon one of the most challenging and unique sports in the Olympic program.
