MixeZoque Languages

Mixe-Zoque languages are a group of languages spoken by indigenous peoples in Mexico. They are characterized by complex grammatical structures, tonal distinctions, and unique phonetic features. The Mixe-Zoque languages are considered to be part of the larger Mixe and Zoque language families, which are themselves part of the greater Oto-Manguean language family. These languages are primarily spoken in the southern regions of Mexico, particularly in the states of Oaxaca, Veracruz, and Chiapas. Speakers of Mixe-Zoque languages are highly proficient in their languages and have a strong sense of cultural identity tied to their linguistic heritage.
