Mesoamerican History
Mesoamerican History refers to the study of the indigenous civilizations that existed in the region of Mesoamerica, which includes present-day Mexico, Guatemala, Belize, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Costa Rica. This field of study encompasses the ancient cultures and societies such as the Olmec, Maya, Aztec, and Zapotec, among others, who thrived in Mesoamerica before the arrival of European colonizers in the 16th century. Mesoamerican History explores the political, social, cultural, and religious practices of these civilizations, as well as their advancements in agriculture, architecture, art, astronomy, mathematics, and writing systems. It also delves into the interactions and conflicts between different Mesoamerican groups, as well as their eventual conquest and colonization by the Spanish.
