Meiosis
Meiosis is a type of cell division that occurs in sexually reproducing organisms, resulting in the production of gametes with half the number of chromosomes as the parent cell. This process involves two rounds of division, known as meiosis I and meiosis II, leading to the creation of genetically diverse offspring. During meiosis, genetic material is shuffled through the processes of crossing over and independent assortment, contributing to genetic variation among offspring.
