Mauis Dolphin
The Maui's Dolphin, also known as the popoto or the Maui's Dolphin, is the world's smallest and rarest subspecies of dolphin. They are characterized by their distinctive rounded dorsal fin and sleek, grey bodies. Maui's Dolphins are only found off the west coast of New Zealand's North Island and are known for their playful and energetic behavior. Unfortunately, they are critically endangered due to factors such as bycatch in fishing nets and habitat degradation. Conservation efforts are currently underway to protect and preserve this unique and precious species.
