Polish is a West Slavic language spoken primarily in Poland and by Polish communities in other countries. It is the official language of Poland and one of the official languages of the European Union. Polish is known for its complex grammar, including seven cases for nouns and adjectives, and a rich vocabulary that has been influenced by Latin, German, French, and other languages. The Polish alphabet is based on the Latin script with the addition of diacritics such as the ogonek (ą, ę) and the kreska (ć, ś, ń, ó, ź, ż).
