Indian Epistemology

Indian Epistemology is the branch of philosophy that deals with the nature, sources, and limits of knowledge in the Indian philosophical tradition. It explores questions about how knowledge is acquired, justified, and transmitted in Indian philosophical thought, including discussions on perception, inference, testimony, and other means of knowledge. Indian Epistemology also investigates the relationship between knowledge, belief, and truth, as well as the role of consciousness and self-awareness in the process of knowing. The tradition draws on classical texts such as the Vedas, Upanishads, and various schools of Indian philosophy, including Nyaya, Vaisheshika, and Buddhist epistemology, to develop a rich and complex understanding of knowledge and reality.
