Impressionist ArtHistory
Impressionist Art History refers to the period in art history during the 19th century characterized by the development of the Impressionist movement. Artists during this time sought to capture the fleeting effects of light and color in their work, often painting en plein air to accurately depict the changing qualities of natural light. Impressionist artists used loose brushwork and non-traditional compositions to convey a sense of spontaneity and immediacy in their paintings. Influential artists of this period include Claude Monet, Edgar Degas, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, and Berthe Morisot.
