Homozygosities
Homozygosities refer to the condition in which an individual carries two identical alleles of a particular gene, one inherited from each parent. This genetic state can result in the expression of certain traits or disorders, depending on whether the alleles are dominant or recessive. Homozygosity can be beneficial in terms of maintaining desirable traits within a population, but it can also increase the risk of inheriting genetic disorders when deleterious alleles are present.
