Homothallic

Homothallic refers to a type of organism, typically fungi or algae, that possesses both male and female reproductive structures within the same individual. This allows for self-fertilization to occur, as the organism is capable of producing both male and female gametes, eliminating the need for a separate mating partner. Homothallic organisms are able to reproduce independently and do not rely on genetic recombination with another individual.
