Homolysis
Homolysis is a chemical reaction in which a covalent bond breaks, resulting in the formation of two radicals, each containing one unpaired electron. This process is often initiated by the input of energy, such as heat or light, and can lead to the formation of new chemical species. Homolytic cleavage is a common mechanism in radical reactions and can result in the generation of highly reactive intermediates.
