Homologous Chromosomes
Homologous chromosomes are chromosome pairs (one from each parent) that are similar in length, gene position, and centromere location. These chromosomes carry the same genes, although the specific alleles may differ. Homologous chromosomes are crucial during meiosis, as they undergo crossing over and genetic recombination to create genetic diversity in offspring.
