Homeoboxes
Homeoboxes are a group of DNA sequences found within genes that encode transcription factors involved in the regulation of development processes in organisms. These sequences are typically around 180 base pairs long and contain a highly conserved 60 amino acid homeodomain motif. Homeobox genes play a crucial role in controlling the body plan and the formation of body structures during embryonic development. Mutations in homeobox genes can lead to severe developmental abnormalities and diseases.
