Hokkaido wolves
The Hokkaido wolf, also known as the Ezo wolf, is a subspecies of gray wolf native to the island of Hokkaido in Japan. They are characterized by their thick fur coats, which help them survive the harsh winter climates of Hokkaido. Hokkaido wolves are known for their elusive nature and strong hunting abilities, preying on a variety of animals including deer and small rodents. Unfortunately, they were hunted to extinction in the early 20th century due to conflicts with humans over livestock. Today, efforts are being made to reintroduce the Hokkaido wolf to its native habitat.
