Punk Rock

Definition of Punk Rock as it relates to Entertainment, Music, Punk Music

Punk Rock is a potent, loud, and aggressive form of Punk Music that emerged in the mid-1970s. This genre is deeply rooted in Entertainment and Music culture, and is a more intense offshoot of Punk Music. It is characterized by short, fast-paced songs with hard-edged melodies, often with political, anti-establishment lyrics. Punk Rock bands usually consist of a vocalist, one or two electric guitarists, an electric bassist, and a drummer. While Punk Music was already a rebellion against the mainstream, Punk Rock pushed the boundaries further, embodying a do-it-yourself ethos and creating a distinct subculture that includes distinctive styles of dress, dance, visual art, literature, and film.
