Spark Plug
A spark plug is an essential component of an internal combustion engine, responsible for igniting the air-fuel mixture within the cylinder head to generate power. As part of the automotive engine system, specifically located in the cylinder head, the spark plug plays a critical role in the functioning of the engine block and the overall automotive engine. Spark plugs are typically composed of a central electrode surrounded by a ceramic insulator, which is housed within a metal shell. The central electrode, when heated by the electrical charge from the ignition system, creates a spark that ignites the compressed air-fuel mixture in the combustion chamber, initiating the engine's power stroke. In an internal combustion engine, multiple spark plugs are used to ensure proper ignition of the fuel-air mixture in each cylinder. These spark plugs must be precisely positioned and fitted within the cylinder head to optimize engine performance and minimize emissions. Proper maintenance of spark plugs is crucial for ensuring efficient fuel consumption, reducing exhaust emissions, and extending the overall lifespan of an automotive engine.
