Southeast Division

Definition of Southeast Division as it relates to Sports, NBA, NBA Teams, Division Rankings, Eastern Conference

The Southeast Division is a part of the Eastern Conference within the NBA, encompassing a group of teams located in the southeastern region of the United States. This division is one of six divisions in the Eastern Conference and consists of five teams: the Atlanta Hawks, Charlotte Hornets, Miami Heat, Orlando Magic, and Washington Wizards. Each team competes against one another throughout the regular season, with their overall records determining the divisional standings. The Southeast Division winner is determined by having the best record among these five teams and automatically earns a top-four seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs, granting them home court advantage in at least the first round of the postseason. In addition to competing for the division title, each team also strives to secure one of the top eight seeds in the Eastern Conference, which would qualify them for the NBA Playoffs.
