Green Sea Turtle
Green Sea Turtles are known for their distinctive dark green to brown carapace, or shell, and bright white or yellow underside. They can grow up to 4 feet in length and weigh between 300-400 pounds as adults. These turtles are found primarily in tropical and subtropical waters around the world, including the Atlantic, Pacific, and Indian Oceans. As a member of the Sea Turtle family, Green Sea Turtles are herbivorous, feeding mainly on seagrasses and algae. They play an important role in maintaining the health of marine ecosystems by helping to maintain healthy seagrass beds and coral reefs. Unfortunately, Green Sea Turtles are considered endangered due to various threats such as habitat loss, pollution, climate change, and hunting for their meat, eggs, and shells. Conservation efforts are underway to protect these animals and their habitats, including the designation of protected areas, research and monitoring programs, and public education campaigns.
