Penguin

Definition of Penguin as it relates to Animals, Animals By Habitat, Polar

Penguins are flightless birds adapted to life in the polar regions, with distinctive waddling walk and waterproof feathers. Their diet mainly consists of fish and crustaceans, which they catch with their sharp beaks while swimming in the icy waters. They are well-known for their unique ability to survive in extreme cold, as well as their social behavior, often seen huddling together to keep warm. Despite popular belief, not all penguins live exclusively in Antarctica; some species inhabit more temperate climates along the coasts of South America, Africa, and Australia. As a result, they can be found inhabiting various polar habitats within the Animals by Habitat category.
