Hydrothermal Vents
Hydrothermal vents are deep-sea geysers found in volcanically active areas of the ocean floor. They emit plumes of superheated water, which can reach temperatures up to 750°F (400°C), and mineral-rich fluids that support unique ecosystems teeming with extremophile organisms, such as giant tube worms, eyeless shrimp, and other unique life forms. In the hierarchy "Places/Natural Wonders/Geyser/Geyser Fields," hydrothermal vents represent a distinct type of geyser field, characterized by their underwater location and the extreme conditions they create. These vent systems contribute to the overall diversity of geysers and geyser fields found within natural wonder sites across the globe.
