Scanners are electronic devices primarily used in conjunction with computers to convert physical data into digital format. They employ various technologies such as optical, magnetic, or radio-frequency to capture and interpret images, text, or barcodes. Desktop scanners typically handle flat documents, while handheld ones can scan three-dimensional objects. Scanner types include but are not limited to document, photo, film, and barcode scanners. Video cards may also interact with scanners to optimize image processing and display.
