Network Switches
Network switches are devices that connect multiple electronic devices within a local area network (LAN), facilitating communication between them. They operate at the data link layer (Layer 2) of the OSI model, enabling the transmission of data packets between devices based on their MAC addresses. Network switches improve network efficiency by reducing broadcast traffic and allowing for full-duplex communication. They can be managed or unmanaged, with managed switches providing advanced features such as VLAN support, Quality of Service (QoS), and port mirroring. Network switches are essential components in various settings, including computer systems, car computer systems, and computer accessories, ensuring seamless connectivity and efficient data transfer within a network.
