RAM Memory
RAM memory, also known as Random Access Memory, is a type of volatile computer memory used for temporarily storing data and information required by the operating system and currently running applications. It allows rapid access to stored information, which significantly speeds up overall system performance. RAM modules are available in various forms such as DIMM, SO-DIMM, or RIMM, with varying capacities, speeds, and configurations depending on the specific requirements of a computer system. While similar in functionality to Read Only Memory (ROM), RAM is volatile, meaning it requires constant power to maintain stored data. When the power is turned off, all data stored in RAM is lost.
