Access Point
An access point is a networking hardware device that allows other Wi-Fi devices to connect to a wired network. The access point can be a standalone device that is connected to a router or it can be a component of a router itself. It creates a wireless local area network, or WLAN, in a home or business. Access points are used to extend the wireless coverage of an existing network and to increase the number of users that can connect to it. They can be used with various types of networks, including those that use the 802.11a, 802.11b, 802.11g, 802.11n, and 802.11ac standards. Access points are often used in conjunction with other networking devices, such as routers, switches, and modems, to create a comprehensive networking solution. They are an essential component of many modern networks, providing wireless connectivity for a wide range of devices, including laptops, tablets, smartphones, and smart home devices.
