Characterization
Characterization refers to the process of creating and developing distinct, relatable, and memorable fictional characters in writing. It is an essential aspect of descriptive writing, as it involves using vivid and evocative language to portray characters' physical attributes, personality traits, behaviors, motivations, and relationships with others. A well-crafted metaphor can significantly enhance characterization by offering unique insights into a character's thoughts, feelings, or experiences, thereby deepening the reader's emotional connection to that character. Characterization often includes depictions of a character's growth, change, or transformation over time, as well as their internal and external conflicts, which contribute to the narrative arc and overall story development. In essence, characterization is the art of bringing characters to life on the page, making them real and authentic to readers, and allowing them to resonate emotionally with the audience.
