MultiFactor Authentication
MultiFactor Authentication refers to a security system that requires more than one method of authentication from independent categories of credentials to verify the user's identity for a login or other transaction. It adds an additional layer of protection, making it harder for attackers to gain access to sensitive information. In the context of Firewall within Network Security under Technology, MultiFactor Authentication can be used to enhance the security of network connections and data transfers by ensuring that only authorized users can access the system. It involves a combination of two or more independent credentials: what the user knows (password), owns (security token) and is (biometric verification). This way, even if one factor is compromised, the attacker would still need to bypass other authentication methods to gain access to the system, thereby reducing the risk of unauthorized access.
