Nuclear Engineering
Nuclear Engineering, as part of the Chemistry hierarchy in the Science/Nanotechnology/Chemistry branch, is the application of scientific and mathematical principles to design, construct, and operate nuclear power plants and other nuclear-related facilities. It involves the study of radioactive materials, radiation, and nuclear reactions, with a focus on harnessing their energy for practical uses. Nuclear engineers may also work on projects related to nuclear medicine, waste disposal, and nonproliferation efforts. This field is closely linked to nanotechnology due to its use in developing and improving small-scale devices and materials that can withstand high radiation levels or have unique radiation properties.
