NeoConfucianism
Neo-Confucianism, a revival and reinterpretation of Confucian ideas, emphasizes moral self-improvement and metaphysical naturalism within the framework of Confucian ethics and social philosophy. It emerged during the Song Dynasty in China and subsequently spread to Korea, Japan, and Vietnam. Neo-Confucians delved into topics such as human nature, moral cultivation, and the ultimate reality of the universe, often engaging in debates with Buddhist and Daoist scholars. By integrating elements of these other philosophies, Neo-Confucianism developed a more nuanced understanding of the self, knowledge, and the world, further enriching Confucian thought as it continued to evolve within the broader context of Religions and Philosophy of Confucianism.
