National Monuments
National Monuments are specially designated areas set aside by the United States government to protect and preserve unique natural, cultural, and historical resources. They can be found within the broader category of National Landmarks, which also includes other types of protected areas such as National Parks and National Historic Sites. As part of the Travel Attractions hierarchy, National Monuments offer visitors a chance to experience and learn about the nation's natural and cultural heritage in a meaningful way. These sites can range from ancient petroglyphs and cliff dwellings to battlefields and scenic landscapes, each with its own unique story to tell and history to preserve.
