Definition of German as it relates to Languages

German is a West Germanic language that originated in Central Europe and has since become one of the most widely spoken languages in the world. It is the official language of Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, and Luxembourg, as well as being recognized as a minority language in several other countries. The language is characterized by its complex grammar system, which includes three genders (masculine, feminine, and neuter) and four cases (nominative, accusative, genitive, and dative). German vocabulary is rich and diverse, with many words borrowed from Latin, Greek, and other languages. The language has also had a significant impact on the development of other languages, particularly in science, technology, philosophy, and music.
