Postcolonialism
Postcolonialism refers to the critical and theoretical study of the cultural, literary, and sociopolitical effects of colonialism and imperialism. It encompasses an examination of how colonized cultures have been impacted by and resisted against Western hegemony, with a particular focus on English culture due to its historical dominance in global colonization. Postcolonialism also intersects with world literature, as it explores the diverse literary traditions that have emerged from formerly colonized societies and their ongoing dialogues with Western canonical texts. At its core, postcolonialism is concerned with understanding and challenging power dynamics, promoting cultural diversity, and advocating for social justice in a global context.
