Slavic Mythology encompasses the traditional religious and folkloric beliefs held by Slavic people, who inhabited a vast area stretching from Eastern Europe to Siberia. These myths and legends revolve around various gods, goddesses, heroes, and creatures that embody natural elements or represent abstract concepts. The pantheon is headed by Perun, the god of thunder and lightning, and other prominent deities include Veles, the god of earth and water; Dazbog, the god of sun and wealth; and Svarog, the god of fire and blacksmithing. Slavic mythology also features a variety of supernatural beings such as rusalki (water nymphs), vila (forest spirits), domovik (household spirits), and zmey (dragons). These stories, rituals, and beliefs reflect the values, fears, and aspirations of Slavic cultures throughout history and continue to be an essential part of their cultural identity.
