Tennis Scoring

Definition of Tennis Scoring as it relates to Sports, Tennis, Tennis Rules

Tennis scoring is a system used to keep track of points won by each player in a tennis match. In professional tennis, matches are usually best-of-three or best-of-five sets, with each set consisting of games. A game is won by the first player to win at least four points in total and at least two points more than the opponent. Points are scored as love (zero), 15, 30, and 40. If both players have 40 points, it's called deuce, and the next point wins the game. The player who wins the most games in a set wins that set, and the player who wins the required number of sets first wins the match. This system of scoring is unique to tennis and adds excitement and strategy to the game, making it an essential aspect of the sport's culture and appeal.
