Postcolonial Literature
Postcolonial Literature: A genre of literature that critically examines and responds to the cultural, political, and social legacies of colonialism and imperialism, often by authors from formerly colonized nations or communities. This literature highlights issues such as identity, power dynamics, resistance, hybridity, and cultural memory, and challenges traditional Western narratives and perspectives. It includes a wide range of forms, such as novels, poetry, drama, and nonfiction, and covers various historical periods and geographical locations. Postcolonial Literature seeks to subvert colonialist ideologies, promote cross-cultural understanding, and give voice to marginalized communities.
