Problem Based Learning
Problem Based Learning (PBL) in secondary education, specifically within the subject area of precalculus, refers to an instructional approach that emphasizes the use of real-world problems as the driving force for student learning. In this method, students are presented with a complex problem or challenge that requires them to apply their knowledge and skills to find a solution. Through this process, students develop critical thinking, collaboration, and communication skills, as well as a deeper understanding of the content. PBL in precalculus encourages students to see mathematics not just as a set of disconnected facts and procedures, but as a tool for making sense of the world around them. This approach fosters engagement, motivation, and retention of knowledge, leading to improved academic performance and lifelong learning skills.
