Reading Instruction
Reading Instruction refers to the systematic and explicit teaching of reading skills and strategies, tailored to meet the diverse needs of learners in an educational setting. This instruction encompasses foundational literacy skills such as phonemic awareness, decoding, fluency, vocabulary development, and comprehension strategies, while considering individual student learning profiles. In the context of special education and special services education, reading instruction is designed to accommodate students with unique learning needs, disabilities or exceptionalities, providing them with equitable access to the general curriculum through differentiated instructional approaches, materials, and technologies. The goal of reading instruction is to foster a community of readers who are engaged, critical thinkers, and effective communicators in various contexts.
